The Montessori Philosophy
Montessori philosophy is a method of recognizing children as they really are and of creating environments which foster the fulfillment of their highest potential - spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual - as members of a family and the world community.
Dr. Maria Montessori gave the world a scientific method, practical and tested, for bringing forth the very best in young human beings. She taught adults how to respect individual differences, and to emphasize social interaction and the education of the whole personality rather than the teaching of a specific body of knowledge. Montessori practice is always up-to-date and dynamic because observation and the meeting of needs is continual and specific for each child. When physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs are met, children glow with excitement to play and work, to learn, and to create with enthusiasm. They exhibit a desire to teach, help, and care for others and for their environment.
The high level of academic achievement so common in Montessori schools is a natural outcome of experience in such a supportive environment. The Montessori Method of education is a model which serves the needs of children of all levels of mental and physical ability. They live and learn in a natural, multi-aged group which is very much like the society they will live in as adults.
Today, there are Montessori schools throughout the world, in every continent excluding Antarctica. Montessori programs, based on self-directed, non competitive activities, help children develop good self images and the confidences to face challenges and change with optimism. The habits and skills a child learns in a Montessori classroom will stay with them for a lifetime.
RMR Montessori LLC, the parent organization of The Brandon Montessori School at River Hills, was formed in December 2000 to provide an excellent early childhood education program meeting the needs of families in one of the fastest growing regions in the Tampa Bay area. In 2005, we opened our second school, The Riverview Montessori School at Rivercrest, to provide the best quality care for our families in the greater Riverview area. In 2012, we opened our third school, The SouthShore Montessori School at Waterset to serve families in Southern Hillsborough County. Ms. Rohini Rustogi is the owner and President of all three schools. Her passion for children drives our vision to be the very best. Both of her parents were school teachers and her husband is a college professor. All combined, her family has invested over 100 years in educating young minds.
The Brandon Montessori School is adjacent to Lithia Springs Elementary and to the River Hills community. The Riverview Montessori School is adjacent to Terrell Sessums Elementary and in the Rivercrest community. The SouthShore Montessori School is located in the Waterset community, convenient to Ruskin, Apollo Beach, and Riverview, Florida. All three schools provide a specialized, comprehensive enhanced curriculum based on the Montessori Method for young children, pre-primary and kindergarten age children (2 to 6 years) and after school care for elementary school children. Our Riverview location includes an elementary class for children ages 6 through 9 years. In addition, all three schools provide Free VPK programs. Our Montessori Schools have been architecturally designed with the children’s needs in mind and provide a secure environment that will allow the personal growth of each child.
Consistent with our mission, we want to help each child reach his or her full potential in all areas of life. Our schools are dedicated to the Montessori philosophy and method of education. A child attending our Montessori school will be exposed to a method, which facilitates the growth of inner discipline and complex reasoning skills. Our Montessori schools take pride in our head teachers who received their Montessori credentials from the American Montessori Society or equivalent organizations. Through the support of our highly trained assistants, the schools take pride in providing the best quality education to meet the needs of each child.
